It's raining biopics in Bollywood, and when it comes to Sports, there's no dearth of legends in India. After cricket greats Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev, it's Dada turn!
Former cricketer and current president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that a biopic on his life is indeed in the works.
In a tweet, Sourav Ganguly said, "Cricket has been my life, it gave confidence and ability to walk forward with my head held high, a journey to be cherished. Thrilled that Luv Films will produce a biopic on my journey and bring it to life for the big screen"
The film will be helmed by filmmaker Luv Ranjan, who has delivered hits like 'Pyar Ka Punchnama', 'Sonu Ki Titu ki Sweety' and more recently, 'Chhalaang' in 2020.
In an earlier interview, Sourav Ganguly had mentioned that actor Ranbir Kapoor might play him in the film, but details are being kept under wraps at the moment. According to reports, the biopic is being made with a whopping budget of around ₹200 to ₹250 crore.
From his days as a young cricketer in Bengal, to leading the Indian team to the iconic win at Lords, and finally becoming the president of the BCCI, the film will cover all facets of Sourav Ganguly's life.
