The ruling TMC in Bengal has hit back a day after the BJP wrote to the Election Commission alleging party chief Mamata Banerjee has violated the Model Code of Conduct by announcing cash rewards for Durga Puja clubs despite the declaration of by-poll dates.

TMC claimed the BJP’s ‘scant regard for Maa Durga and the traditions of Bengal stands exposed’. Taking a jibe at BJP the TMC said that ‘self-proclaimed custodians of Hindu culture and values’ has no understanding Hinduism. It further accused the BJP of disrespecting Hindu festivals.
