Two resolutions were passed in the Punjab Congress Legislative Party meeting after Amarinder Singh stepped down as Punjab Chief Minister.
The party's Punjab in-charge, Harish Rawat, said the first resolution thanked the Captain for his tenure, while the second one authorised Sonia Gandhi to choose the next Congress Legislative Party leader who would become the Chief Minister.

The Congress's observer for Punjab, Ajay Maken, said there was no discussion on the name of a Congress Legislative Party leader.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Amarinder Singh, who stepped down following a tussle with rival Navjot Singh Sidhu, said that he will not accept his party colleague as his successor.
Singh opposed Sidhu’s name as CM candidate, calling him incompetent and adding that he is a ‘threat to the national security’ given his ‘connection with Pakistan’
