Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Wednesday appealed to farmers not to stop traffic or violate Section 144 in the state over the agriculture bills introduced by the Centre in the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament. However, he made it clear that no cases would be registered against the protesting farmers as they were fighting for their lives. After submitting a memorandum against the anti-farmer Bills on behalf of the Punjab Congress to the Governor, Captain said that the FIRs already registered against farmers would be withdrawn. He added that the Centre's legislations would ruin Punjab’s agriculture, which is the backbone of its economy. Meanwhile, BJP ally Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Badal has said party MPs would vote against the three agriculture bills listed for Wednesday in the parliament.
