Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is at war with Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh, met Congress president Sonia Gandhi and senior leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday.
The Punjab Congress crisis worsened on Thursday evening with both camps holding separate meeting with their supporters even as Congress tried to thrash out a truce.
Amarinder Singh is reportedly against the Congress leadership's plan to elevate his rival Navjot Sidhu as state Congress chief, replacing Sunil Jakhar.
Sidhu held a meeting with six MLAs, including three cabinet ministers -- Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Charanjit Singh Channi and Tript Rajinder Bajwa - who have openly rebelled against Singh.
On the other hand, the Chief Minister went into a huddle with party MLAs and MPs supporting him at his private farmhouse in Mohali.
