With Delhi appearing to have become a battleground in the approaching war for Gujarat, the Delhi Assembly might witness a stormy special session on 29 August. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party and Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party are expected to clash over a trust vote proposed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Earlier,Arvind Kejriwal had claimed the BJP's Operation Lotus to topple his government by stealing MLAs had failed, and a trust vote would prove this. AAP had accused BJP of offering ₹20 crore each to 40 legislators for defection.

The poaching allegations came on the back of BJP attacking AAP over an alleged liquor scam in the national capital. The CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) is investigating alleged irregularities in the Delhi government's Excise Policy 2021-22, which has since been scrapped. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is an accused in the case.

After a victory in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party is focusing on elections in BJP-ruled Gujarat slated towards the end of the year.
