The first week of the second leg of the Parliament's Budget Session was washed out as protests inside the Houses continued for the fifth day on 17 March 2023.

With appeals for calm by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar being ignored, the Houses were adjourned to meet on 20 March.

While the ruling BJP has been pushing for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's apology for saying that Indian democracy is under attack, the Opposition has been seeking a probe into the Adani issue.
