75-year-old Deepak Bansod managed to evade the police for 43 years, but was finally caught on April 2.

In 1979, Bansod, a Nagpur resident, was booked in a case of alleged assault. He was arrested by police under IPC Section 325, which pertains to voluntarily causing grievous hurt. Subsequently, he was granted bail.

And that is when the chase began. Bansod was reportedly living in a rented accommodation in the Sitabuldi area at the time. He vacated his rented house, and went untraceable.

After 43 years, police managed to trace him after his name appeared as a beneficiary in a government scheme, as per a PTI report. He was caught by the Crime Branch, and handed over to Sitabuldi police.
