Sooraj Barjatya’s 'Uunchai', starring Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, and Neena Gupta among others, released in theatres on November 11. The film has had a decent start at the box-office considering the limited release of the film. The film released in only 483 screens across India.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film collected around ₹ 1.81 cr in India on the first day of its release. He took to Twitter and wrote 'Limited screens [483]…Limited shows [2 to 4 shows per day at prime properties]…Yet, #Uunchai finds its share of audience… Decent Day 1… Fares much, much better than most mid-range films with higher screen count + shows… Fri ₹ 1.81 cr.'
The film is receiving positive word-of-mouth. This will help the film in its weekend collections and gain momentum. The film is expected to attract more footfall over the weekend.
The film has been helmed by Sooraj Barjatya, who has donned the director’s hat after seven years. His last directorial venture was Salman Khan’s 'Prem Ratan Dhan Aayo' which was released in 2015. This is the first collaboration between Amitabh Bachchan and Sooraj Barjatya.
