Roger Federer announces retirement from professional tennis : Roger Federer, 20-time Grand Slam winner, announced that he will retire from professional tennis after the Laver Cup in London. The renowned tennis player posted a long note on social media Thursday to make the announcement.
Soon after the news broke, social media was flooded with congratulatory messages praising Federer’s contribution to the sport. Bollywood celebrities also reacted to his retirement announcement.
Anushka Sharma took to Instagram and reposted Federer’s video, captioned, ‘Genius.’ Director Shashank Khaitan penned a special note for the tennis star and wrote, ‘Roger Federer … The man who has inspired me beyond Tennis… The greatest Player, Role Model and Hero any young kid can have… Watching Tennis will never be the same… Thank you for so many memories and moments ….
