Covid-19: WHO to take final decision on Covaxin approval next week

The World Health Organisation’s experts will meet next week to take the final decision on granting emergency use listing to Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin.

The approval for India's home grown Covid vaccine has been pending for long. Bharat Biotech has said that it has submitted all the relevant documents to the world body.

The approval would greatly influence how other countries treat people vaccinated with Covaxin. Close to 11 crore doses of Covaxin have been given to people in India so far.

Bharat Biotech has said that the Phase-3 clinical trials of Covaxin demonstrated an efficacy rate of 77.8 per cent.
