Apple paid million of dollars in 2016 in a settlement to a 21-year-old student from Oregon in the USA, after her private photos were leaked online by iPhone repair technicians.

The woman had submitted her phone for repairs at an Apple repair center in California, where the technicians uploaded her explicit private photos to her own Facebook profile, making it appear like she had done it herself.

The student sued Apple for ‘severe emotional distress’, and Apple paid a multi-million dollar sum in compensation, although the sum was not disclosed.

An Apple spokesperson has said that Apple took immediate action when informed of the incident, and has since strengthened its vendor protocols.
