In an incident that reminded many of the Will Smith-Chris Rock saga, American comedian Dave Chappelle was attacked on stage.

Veteran stand-up comic Chappelle was performing at an event called Netflix Is A Joke in Los Angeles on May 3, when the incident occurred.

A man reportedly rushed on stage and tackled Chappelle when he was concluding his act. Chappelle was thrown to the floor, even as security rushed to the stage and apprehended the assailant.

Some unverified videos on social media purportedly showed the attacker with a dislocated arm.

In a funny twist, it was Chris Rock himself who came on stage later. Chris Rock jokingly asked, "Was that Will Smith?" - a reference to the infamous slap he suffered at this year's Oscar awards ceremony.

Will Smith had slapped Chris Rock for cracking a joke on his wife Jada Pinkett Smith who suffers from alopecia.
