WhatsApp will stop supporting a list of Android devices from Monday, November 1. Affected users will lose all their chats if they do not backup and export them, switch to a supported device to continue using the messaging service.

WhatsApp has announced on its FAQ page that it will no longer support devices running on Android 4.0.4 or older versions after the November 1 deadline.

How to check if your device will be supported

To check if your device will lose support for WhatsApp, head to Settings, and tap on About Phone. Then check what version of Android your device is currently running on. If it's Android 4.0.4 or lower, you must switch to a device with a higher version to continue using WhatsApp.

In case if you are affected, you can export your chat history either by taking a backup of your chats or through exporting separate individual or group chats.

How to backup and export WhatsApp chats

To backup your WhatsApp chat, open Settings in the WhatsApp app. Then tap on Chats, then Chat backup, and then backup.
To export an individual chat or group chat, open the particular chat and tap on the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the screen. Then tap More, and then tap Export chat.

WhatsApp currently supports iPhones running on iOS 10 (supported by iPhone 5 and later models) and later versions and feature phones such as the Jio Phone and Jio Phone 2 running KaiOS 2.5.0 and newer.
