Veteran actor Chandrashekhar who was best known for essaying the role of Arya Sumant in the popular TV serial Ramayan passed away on Wednesday.
Confirming the news, his son and producer Ashok Shekhar told PTI that the 98-year-old actor died due to age-related ailments at his home.
Chandrashekhar made his debut with 'Surang' in 1954 and went on to do films like 'Mastana', 'Basant Bahaar', 'Kaali Topi Laal Rumaal' and 'Barsaat Ki Raat' among others.
He also appeared in important roles in films that featured renowned actors like Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan.
