During this lockdown, few private schools have hiked their fee for the current academic year. As a result, various state governments have issued guidelines to prevent such instances and hereby, reduce the financial stress on parents during such strenuous times. However, the question of fee hikes in private schools is not unique to this lockdown. This has been in the news cycle almost every year. Yet, enrolments for private schooling just keep increasing. Why? Moreover, with more preference being given to private schools, can they ensure the inclusivity of students with these recurring fee hikes? What role can the government play to make sure that no child is left behind?
