Tokyo Olympics 2020: didn't eat anything for 2 days before event, says Mirabai Chanu

Saikhom Mirabai Chanu who has brought glory to her nation in the ongoing Tokyo 2020, revealed the strict diet she followed a couple of days before her competition. The 26-year old Manipur-based athlete won silver in the 49-kg category told NDTV about the challenges of maintaining her weight.

Chanu said that she didn't eat anything for 2 days before the competition because she was concerned about her weight. It is very difficult to maintain weight and hence she cannot eat junk and her diet is limited to meat and peas, she added. 

The young Olympian who overcame her heartbreak at Rio said that she derived her motivation from the disappointment at Rio.

After her successful trip to Tokyo, Chanu returned to India on Monday.
