BJP national secretary and MP from Pauri Garhwal, Tirath Singh Rawat was sworn-in Uttarakhand's new chief minister on Wednesday, replacing Trivendra Singh Rawat ahead of next year's Assembly polls.

The members of his cabinet will be finalised and sworn-in later. PM Modi and BJP President JP Nadda congratulated and expressed confidence that he would take Uttarakhand to new heights of development.

Trivendra Singh Rawat, who served as the chief minister for almost four years, was replaced by the party leadership due to the growing complaints against his style of functioning by several MLAs and other leaders.
