Samsung India on Thursday announced plans to focus on a 5G-first strategy to solidify its smartphone leadership in the country. According to Raju Pullan, Senior Vice President, Mobile Business, the company aims to capture 75% of sales from its 5G device portfolio this year by launching affordable 5G smartphones and increasing distribution.

For this, Samsung will focus on increased distribution of its recently launched Galaxy A14 5G and Galaxy A23 5G series which are priced between Rs 15,000 and Rs 25,0000.

The company will also offer affordable EMI options to ensure that consumers can buy 5G smartphones at the same EMI as a 4G phone.

Samsung's smartphone business grew over 20% last year and the company expects strong double-digit growth this year as well to consolidate its market share said Pullan

According to a report by Counterpoint Research, better availability of networks in major areas and the introduction of affordable 5G smartphones will facilitate 5G smartphone growth in 2023.
