Bajrang Punia ruled out of World Wrestling Championship with a ligament tear

Bajrang Punia who recently returned from a successful Tokyo campaign, will not participate in the upcoming World Wrestling Championship. The Olympic medallist who won bronze in the 65kg category at Tokyo 2020 is currently in rehabilitation in Norway. He suffered a ligament tear in his right knee in the run-up to the Olympics when he was competing in the Russian tournament in June.

He will not begin his mat training until his 6-week long rehabilitation program is complete. Bajrang said that the World Championship was the only major event left this year but he does see himself participating in more tournaments this season.
