Indian boxer Nitu Ghanghas won her maiden gold in the Women's World Boxing Championships in the 48-kg category.

Nitu defeated Mongolia's Altantsetseg Lutsaikhan 5-0 in the final.

The 22-year-old Indian pugilist dominated the game from the start and won the final by unanimous decison.

2022 CWG champion Nitu joined the leagues of Mary Kom, Laishram Sarita Devi, Jenny RL, Lekha KC and Nikhat Zareen.

While every other player has won the honour once, Mary Kom is the only pugilist to bag the medal six times.
