After India's 5-wicket loss to South Africa, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag questioned the selection of Dinesh Karthik over Rishabh Pant in the team. Karthik scored 6 runs off 15 balls as he failed to provide momentum to the Indian innings.
DK was selected for his exploits as a finisher for the T20 world cup. But with him struggling on Australian pitches, Sehwag questioned Pant's exclusion from the team even after his excellent performance with the bat in those conditions.
"Dinesh Karthik kab Australia me khele hain? Ye koi Bangalore ki wicket nahi hai," said Sehwag during the post-match show on Cricbuzz
The former India captain backed Rishabh Pant to be in the playing XI and added "I said this even today that Pant should've been in the team instead of Hooda, Pant has the experience of playing here."
Pant came on as a substitute wicket-keeper for Karthik for the last five overs, as the latter was facing some problems with his back.
As India next take on Bangladesh, it will be interesting to see if the selectors give Rishabh Pant a chance over DK.
