Women's Asia Cup Hockey: India beat China 2-0 to win bronze medal

The Indian women who won the last edition of the Women's Asia Cup of the Hockey tournament have bagged a consolation bronze after they defeated China 2-0 on Friday. 

India whose campaign was hindered by South Korea in the semifinals went with a 2-0 lead in halftime but failed to score a goal thereafter. While Sharmila Devi gave the Indian side a lead in the 13th minute from the penalty corner, the score was doubled as Gurjit Kaur struck again from the penalty spot in the 19th minute.

Although India had better chances in the second half, they failed to collect more goals. They, however, kept the Chinese at bay who tried to create several chances in the 2nd half. 

Meanwhile, Japan defeated Korea 4-2 in the final clash to lift the title on Friday.
