Hockey World Cup 2023: India beat South Africa 5-2 in 2nd classification match

Playing for pride in their last Hockey World Cup encounter against South Africa, the Indian team came out as comfortable 5-2 winners in the end in the 9th-12th classification match on Saturday.

Abhishek Nain scored a field goal to open the scoring, before Harmanpreet converted a penalty corner to double India's advantage. Shamsher Singh, Akashdeep Singh and Sukhdeep then scored a goal each in the final quarter.

The Harmanpreet Singh-led side came into the game after thrashing Japan 8-0 in the 9-16 classification round on Thursday and have ended their World Cup on a high with yet another win in the tournament.
