Former Indian cricketer Abhishek Nayar who is the assistant coach for Kolkata Knight Riders in this IPL season is impressed with Shreyas Iyer's captaincy for Kolkata. Abhishek compared Shreyas Iyer's captaincy style with Mumbai Indians leader Rohit Sharma who is the most successful captain ever in IPL and has led Mumbai Indians to win 5 IPL titles.
The Kolkata Knight Riders led by Shreyas Iyer began their IPL 2022 campaign on 26 March with a win against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings.
In a media interaction, Nayar said that Shreyas is very much similar to Rohit in terms of personality, in terms of being easy-going, and in terms of empowering the cricketers. Nayar further said that Shreyas is a young captain and in the future, he is someone who is going to don the Indian colours as a captain as well.
