Not getting picked in the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions turned fortunes around for out of favour Cheteshwar Pujara as he earned back his place in the Indian Test squad for the rescheduled fifth Test against England.

Pujara who was struggling with his form during International tours earlier, said that he was happy that his recent performance in the County Championship got recognition.'Having spent some time in the middle during the County games I believe it will keep me in good stead as India gets ready against England.

The 34-year-old veteran Test batter who was dropped from the Indian squad for the Sri Lankan series due to poor form has slammed 4 centuries, including 2 consecutive double hundreds for Sussex. He has amassed 720 runs in just 5 games in this year's County Championship, which made the selectors re-think their decision. Even before flying to England for their domestic first-class competition, Pujara had impressed in his Ranji season. He had scored 2 fifties in 3 games for Saurashtra.
