The Delhi Capitals carved their name into the IPL records by becoming the first team to successfully chase down a total exceeding 160 against the Lucknow Super Giants. At the Ekana Stadium, the Capitals overcame a robust target of 168, securing a six-wicket victory with 11 balls remaining, thanks to standout performances from debutant Jake Fraser-McGurk and captain Rishabh Pant.

Lucknow, buoyed by Ayush Badoni’s unbeaten 55 from 35 deliveries, were the team that had the momentum at the end of the first innings. However, the visitors responded brilliantly to the task, with Fraser-McGurk and Pant orchestrating a critical part of the run-chase that ultimately determined the match's outcome.

Fraser-McGurk, stepping in for the seasoned David Warner who was dismissed early, showed no signs of nerves on his IPL debut. He quickly adapted to the high stakes of the game, playing with a confidence that belied his experience. His contribution, alongside Prithvi Shaw’s brisk 32 off 22 balls, set the stage for a significant partnership with Pant.

The pivotal moment came with the 77-run stand between Fraser-McGurk and Pant, during which the pair unleashed an explosive burst of scoring. They racked up 65 runs in just five overs, a blistering pace that not only showcased their batting prowess but also shifted the momentum squarely back to the Delhi Capitals. Fraser-McGurk’s innings was particularly impressive, reaching his half-century in just 31 balls.

Although Fraser-McGurk was eventually dismissed for 55, his performance had already done the damage. Pant, too, made a vital contribution with a quickfire 41 off 24 balls before departing. Their efforts set the stage for Shai Hope and Tristan Stubbs, who comfortably guided the Capitals past the finish line.
