IPL 2023: David Warner to lead Delhi Capitals in Rishabh Pant's absence

Australian cricketer David Warner has replaced Rishabh Pant as Delhi Capitals captain for the upcoming IPL season, the franchise announced on Thursday.

Warner has been appointed the interim captain as the injured wicketkeeper batter was ruled out of the 2023 edition. Pant who survived a horrific car crash in December is undergoing rehabilitation for his knee injury. 

The franchise also announced Axar Patel as their vice-captain and former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly as their Director of Cricket. The former India captain was the mentor of the Delhi team for the 2019 season. 

The 2023 IPL season begins on 31st March and Delhi will play their first game against Lucknow Super Giants on 1st April.
