It raised a few eyebrows when the Indian team management went ahead with Shubman Gill despite Ishan Kishan scoring a double hundred in ODIs. But Gill put all those discussions to rest with a blistering 208 in the 1st ODI vs New Zealand.
He not only became just the 5th Indian ever and 8th man on the planet to achieve this incredible feat but also broke Ishan Kishan's record of being the youngest Indian ever to score an ODI double century.
In the process of getting to his 3rd overall and 2nd-consecutive one day hundred, the 23-year-old also became the fastest Indian batter to score 1000 ODI runs in just 19 innings. Gill broke Virat Kohli's record who took 5 innings more than him.
