Germany won their 3rd Hockey World Cup title on Sunday as they edged out defending champions Belgium 5-4 on penalties in the Hockey World Cup 2023 final.

With that, Germany became the fourth team to come from behind in a World Cup final to win the contest. They came back from a 2-0 deficit to a 3-2 lead but conceded a late goal to finish 3-3 in normal time.

2018 winners Belgium failed to defend their crown which gave the Germans their third title, drawing level with Netherlands and Australia.
