Madhya Pradesh have won their maiden Ranji Trophy crown after beating 41-time champions Mumbai by 6 wickets in the final in Bengaluru on Sunday.
Riding on Sarfaraz Khan’s hundred, Mumbai had posted 374 in the first innings. But Madhya Pradesh's Yash Dubey, Shubham Sharma and Rajat Patidar smashed hundreds to help their side take a massive 162-run lead.
Mumbai were bundled out for 269 in their second innings and Aditya Shrivastava’s side easily chased the 108-run target down to script history.
It’s a big milestone for Madhya Pradesh since they had never won the prestigious tournament before and played just one final 23 years ago in 1999, where they were defeated by Karnataka.
They remained undefeated this Ranji season on their way to winning the ultimate prize.
