KL Rahul has cleared his fitness test and will now be leading Team India in the Zimbabwe series, BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced on Thursday. While the Selection Committee had earlier named Shikhar Dhawan as the captain, he will now assist him in the 3-match ODI series that begins on 18th August.
The Indian batter was on a long break, first due to his sports hernia injury and he later contracted Covid-19. He was not a part of the squad earlier but was added later after he was cleared by BCCI's medical team. Since the conclusion of the IPL, the 30-year-old hasn't played international cricket.
