It rained money on the Aussies on Tuesday as franchises broke their bank in the IPL 2024 Auction in Dubai.

As expected, Mitchell Starc became the most expensive buy in not just this year's auction but in the history of the cash-rich league.

He triggered a bidding war between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Gujarat Titans before KKR bagged the pacer for a record ₹24.75 crore.

Starc has only played two seasons in the IPL when he was picked by RCB for 2 years in 2013 and 2014. He was also picked by KKR once but was ruled out of the tournament before landing in India.

Interestingly, Pat Cummins had earlier become the most expensive player in IPL history when he was bought by SRH for ₹20.50 crore. But that record was broken as he slipped to the number 2 spot after Starc's bidding war ended.
