India captain Rishabh Pant feels that the team was off with execution after the 7-wickets loss to South Africa in the first T20 match in Delhi on Thursday.
In the post-match press conference, Pant said, "I think we had enough on the board but were off with our execution."
India set a target of 212 with the help of Ishan Kishan's 76 0ff 48 balls, but due to the exemplary batting display by David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen, South Africa chased down the target with 5 balls to spare.
Earlier, the 24-year-old was made India's captain after KL Rahul suffered an injury. Hence, the wicketkeeper-batter became the 8th captain for India in men's T20I cricket and also the second youngest T20I captain for India after Suresh Raina.
India and South Africa will play their 2nd match of the 5-match T20I series on Sunday at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.
