Ravindra Jadeja, who took 5/47 on his return to the national team, triggered a debate in the Australian media after a video surfaced online where he was seen applying something to his left index finger.

The TV broadcast showed Jadeja taking something off the hands of Mohd Siraj and then rubbing it onto his finger when he came in to bowl his 16th over.

When the footage was shared with former Australian captain Tim Paine on Twitter, he replied 'interesting'.

Even former England captain Michael Vaughan took to Twitter, asking 'What is he putting on his spinning finger? Never ever seen this'.

According to ESPNCricinfo, the video was shown to captain Rohit Sharma & Jadeja himself by match referee Andy Pycroft after the day's play, where they reportedly clarified that the 34-year-old was only applying pain-relief cream due to a sore finger.
