Cricket fraternity hails Indian Icon Mithali Raj after she announced retirement

With Mithali Raj deciding to bring the curtains down on her stellar career, the cricket fraternity took to Twitter to congratulate the Indian icon for her contribution to the game.

In her 23-year-long eventful career, Mithali helped enforce a positive change in how women's cricket was perceived in India and became a household name in the process.

From Anil Kumble to Lisa Sthalekar, a number of renowned cricketers, both current and former, sent in their wishes to Mithali.

In reply to Mithali's retirement tweet, India's former captain Anil Kumble wrote that Raj is 'a role model and inspiration to many'. While former Australian cricketer Lisa Sthalekar who played against Mithali wrote the Indian legend 'was an amazing player that put cricket on the map, especially in India'.
