With India's home series against Sri Lanka starting on January 3, there's hardly any time left before the Indian squad is announced.

While the Chetan Sharma-led selection committee had been sacked earlier by the BCCI, there have been no new appointments made.

It's the reason why the outgoing selection committee has been given an extension till December 25, and in all likelihood, will be selecting the squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.
