Newly appointed BCCI President Roger Binny expressed concern over the problem of frequent injuries to Indian cricketers and said that Jasprit Bumrah's injury 10 days before the World Cup cannot be ignored.

During the Karnataka State Cricket Association's felicitation ceremony, Binny said, "We need to look into why players are getting injured so badly for the last four-five years. It is not that we do not have a good trainer or coach. Is there too much burden on the players or are they playing in too many formats. For this, it is necessary to do something. This is my priority."

The ace pacer who did not play the Asia Cup 2022 was ruled out of the T20 World Cup 3 days before the Indian team left for Australia as well due to his back issue. Mohammed Shami has been announced as his replacement for the marquee event.
