Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur's 46 and Richa Ghosh's fiery innings towards the end went in vain as the mighty Australian team defeated the Indian women's cricket team by 7 runs in the fourth T20 match.

While chasing 189, the Women in Blue did not have the perfect start with Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma losing their wickets in the early overs, the skipper alongside Devika then made a half-century partnership giving India some hope.

Devika, however, was dismissed after scoring 32 runs. The Indian captain kept it going until Elana King removed her after she had scored a crucial 46 off 30 balls. In the final over, Richa Ghosh hit a quickfire 40 runs in 19 balls but her valiant efforts fell short by just 7 runs and Australia secured the 5-match series 3-1.

Earlier, Ellyse Perry's 42-ball 72 and Gardner's quick 42 runs helped the Australian team post mammoth 188 runs on board by losing just 3 wickets in 20 overs.
