There are a few moments in Indian cricket history that fans can never forget and beating Australia at their fortress at the Gabba in Brisbane in 2021 is right amongst the best. On this day, exactly a year ago, Team India under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane defeated Australia in Brisbane to register a historic series triumph.

Not only did Team India win the series for the 2nd straight time in Australia, the team also became the first group to defeat the Aussies in Brisbane in 32 years. The fortress at the Gabba was breached and the key lynchpins in that win were Shubman Gill who scored a fiery 91, Cheteshwar Pujara who braved on despite receiving many body blows and eventually Rishabh Pant who took the team past the finish line with a patient 89.

The historic win helped Team India retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy and also etched its name in the history books.
