Serum Institute to start production of Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine in India from September

Russian Covid-19 vaccine Sputnik V will be produced at the units of Serum Institute of India from September.  The Russian Direct Investment Fund and Serum Institute of India have announced plans to start the production of the vaccine.

RDIF said they ‘intend to produce over 300 million doses in India per year’.

Technology transfer has already started and as part of the process SII has received cell and vector samples. With their import approved by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI), the cultivation process has also begun.
