Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who has been very critical of the Centre’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, once again held the government responsible for lakhs of lives lost.

He claimed PM Modi’s theatrics is the reason behind the second wave in India. He accused PM Modi of "ignorance" on the virus, saying he did not understand corona at all.

He also held that the official casualty figures are untrue and accused the government of fudging numbers.

Addressing the media over video conferencing on Friday, Rahul warned that multiple waves will hit India unless proper vaccine strategy adopted and added that if only 3% population is vaccinated, it will not stop the next wave. ‘The virus will mutate and new variants will evolve if it is allowed time’, he further said.

Rahul said while lockdown is temporary vaccine is a permanent solution to the Covid crisis
