Hitting out at the opposition for boycotting President address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday in Rajya Sabha said it would have been nice if everyone had listened to President Kovind's address.

However, the address was so powerful that those who didn't hear it also realised its importance, the Prime Minister said.

President Kovind's address was an important step towards realising the goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat, PM Modi said in response to the Motion of Thanks address.

A day before the start of the Budget Session of Parliament, 16 opposition parties led by the Congress, NCP, Shiv Sena and the TMC had decided to boycott the President's address to the joint sitting of Parliament in solidarity with the farmers protesting the new farm laws.
