Omicron watch: Govt asks Chemists to stock up on essential medicines

With rising cases of Covid the drug regulator met with the association group of chemists and asked the stores to ensure the availability of critical drugs for the management of Covid-19 and other essential medicines.

ET reports that the government has said there should not be any shortage of products including all types of cough syrups, paracetamol tablets, Vitamin C, zinc tablets, azithromycin and ivermectin. It has specifically asked chemists to maintain buffer stock of these medicines.

India reported over 1 lakh new Covid-19 cases in the 24 hours ending 9 am on Friday, this is the highest tally in 9 months.
