'Not a new Covid wave,' says Modi govt's pandemic panel chief, as per reports

Amid rising Covid cases in India, a top government expert has said that this is not a new wave of infections.

Dr NK Arora, Chairman of India's Covid-19 Working Group of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation, said that the latest cases are part of the third wave caused by the Omicron variant of the virus.

Speaking to news outlet NDTV, he said that there is no need to worry, as new infections are mild in severity, and chances of serious illness are low.
