The coronavirus pandemic has taken over every facet of our lives and this includes our kitchens too! While most of us were busy baking our first banana breads at the onset of the pandemic, many bakers took the opportunity to show off their skills with 'Covid cakes.'

From cakes that mimic the visual appearance of a virus to desserts that feature toilet paper and masks as a decorative element, the ‘corona cake’ trend was the biggest and perhaps the oddest food trend of 2020.

Many in India also took up the challenge with one sweet shop whipping up a much-talked-about Corona Sandesh as well.

In 2021, this focus has now shifted to vaccinations as countries seek to inoculate their populations. Pastry shops are putting a Covid vaccine spin on their desserts by adding a syringe to the mix.

These syringe-themed desserts feature vaccine-inspired layered mousses with colourful jelly toppings and so much more.

Earlier this year, a German bakery even launched vaccine cakes in the shape of big syringes with “2021-Bye Bye Corona,” written on them. Reportedly, these vaccine cakes have become the new norm for birthdays, anniversaries and even to mark celebrations for people who’ve gotten their jabs.

Which one of these eye-catching cakes would you want to try?
