Chelsea's defence for their Champions League title began on a winning note as The Blues edged out a stubborn Zenit St Petersburg 1-0 at the Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

The Russian club showed immense resistance and held the hosts till the 69th minute before Chelsea's £97.5m summer signing from Inter Milan, Romelu Lukaku finally broke the deadlock and scored his maiden goal for The Blues in the Champions League. It proved to be the winner as Chelsea secured all 3 points but Zenit would feel that they missed a glorious chance to snatch a point from the holders.
