'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' completed 23 years of its release, and filmmaker Karan Johar shared an emotional post on social media on look back at the fond memories.

He shared a video which included montage of clips from the film, with titles, which read ‘generation-defining romance’, ‘timeless symphonies’, ‘soul touching friendships’, and the ‘rhythm of unrequited feelings.’

KJo wrote, “23 years of pyaar, dosti and a bunch of memories. This was my first time behind the camera and it ignited an unparalleled love for the cinema in me that continues to drive me till today. Gratitude to the best cast, crew and the audience who continues to pour in the love for this story 23 years on. Thank you.”

For 90s kids, 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' is not just a film but an emotion.

We fell in love with Rahul, Anjali and Tina, tried to dress like them to look "cool".

We bingewatched the film several times and cried each time when Tina died and Anjali left.

Karan Johar's directorial debut is considered a milestone, in the slew of romantic dramas in the 90s. 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji, celebrated love and friendship and is still a family favourite.

The film also starred Anupam Kher, Farida Jalal, Johnny Lever, Sana Saeed, Reema Lagoo and Archana Puran Singh. 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' went on to become the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 1998.
