Veteran screenwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar has chided the new generation of filmmakersby saying that they put songs in their films just for the money and don't use it as a narrative tool.

Akhtar, who has penned lyrics for some of the biggest songs of Hindi cinema added that the current crop of filmmakers are clueless about how to use songs in a narrative as they have not grown under the influence of Hindi films but of western cinema.
