Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said at the Computex trade show that the global chip shortage, caused by exponential rising demand amid the Covid-19 pandemic, could last for several years.

Although the industry has taken steps to address constraints, he said, it could take a couple of years for shortcomings of foundry capacity and components to be corrected.

Intel had earlier announced a $20 billion plan to expand its chip manufacturing capabilities.
